Chestnut Is Now A Burton Learn To Ride Center
Chestnut has teamed up with Burton to provide new riders with a solid foundation to build their skills. The Learn To Ride (LTR) program has been developed by a team of knowledgeable professionals in the snowboarding industry to make learning to snowboard easy and fun.
Burton Snowboards, with help from the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI), the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI), and rental shops around the globe have joined forces to develop and test a learning program that really works. Burton has developed boards, boots, and bindings specifically designed for the beginner rider and have tested these products with real people in real lessons. All elements of the Learn To Ride Center are designed by riders for riders - from equipment setup, to instruction, to appropriate learning terrain. The ultimate goal of LTR is to eliminate the stressful pressures of learning a new sport. They want beginners to feel comfortable enough on a board to be linking turns on their very first day out.

Voted Most Family-Friendly Midwest Resort
Chestnut Mountain Resort was recently voted Most Family-Friendly Midwest Ski Resort according to visitors to OnTheSnow.com, the oldest and most-visited snow sports portal on the Internet.
Chestnut received almost perfect scores in the family-friendly category. The rating were based primarily on readers' average ranking, number of reviews, and specific comments made in OnTheSnow.com over the winter season.
"More and More skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices," said Mountain News President and Publisher Rob Brown, whose company publishes OnTheSnow.com. "We believe the importance of reader advisories will continue to grow each year and these annual awards provide a peek into their thinking."
Reviewers were clear in their comments: "It's one of the best beginner hills in the area... Chestnut is a great place to learn and hone basic skills. Even the most advanced skier can work edging on one ski all the way down a black here and be challenged... It's a great place to vacation, great for the family, fun for those wishing to get into snow sports."
