Dear Racers and Parents:

Chestnut Mountain Junior Race team and Chestnut Mountain Resort would like to welcome you to the “Big Nut Cup” Alpine Ski Race contested on March 2^nd and March 3^rd, 2019. Please make sure you read the race facts carefully. We have added an “Open Class” for all racers 20 and over (not eligible for fastest on the hill prizes).

Discounted lift tickets will be offered to racers and parents. Ticket windows are located in the powder pup area, lower level main lodge, and at the Skier Services Building. Lift ticket prices will be $75.00 for a two-day ticket and the price for a one day will be $40.00.

Two-day tickets may be purchased beginning Friday (03/01/19) after 8:00 pm. Discounted tickets will be available for Racers and their families until 10:00 am each day. If you are interested in skiing Friday night, the ticket cost is $30, 4:00 pm – close.

Chestnut Mountain Resort will also offer a special room rate of $159 per room in the Chalet and $179 in the Edelweiss. These rates require a 2 night stay (regular rates are $299 in Edelweiss). All room rates are per night and are based on double occupancy.

We do not accept National Ski Patrol signs on for this event.

Please make sure you use the ski racks or free ski check located in the Powder Pups Area located in the children’s center.

Big Nut Cup Race Facts

Entry Procedure: Online only at:

Eligibility: Male and Female U8-U20, Open Class for all racers 20 years old and above

Limited Field: 1^st 175 entrants (no exceptions)

Entry Deadline: Tuesday February 26, 2019 11:59 PM

Entry Fee: $35

Bibs: Bibs can be picked up after 6:30 PM Friday evening in the Vista Room or Saturday morning after 7:00 AM. $20 cash or check bib deposit due at pick up.

Course: Crazy Horse

Course Inspection: U10 & U8 Racers may slip course if required. Conditions may require that all inspections be done from outside the course. Racers will be informed if this is required.

Gatekeepers: As with all races, we need a lot of gatekeepers. Please be on time for the gatekeepers meeting in the downstairs bar (Vista-Mountain Top Café) by 8:00 each morning, look for Andy Flynn. Arm bands will be handed out at the meeting and only valid during race times and are not valid after the conclusion of the race. Make sure all Gate-keepers are in place at 8:40 am.

Release Waivers: Please print and fill out the Chestnut Mountain and USSA (CLIP Insurance) release waivers in order to pick up your race Bib (in Lower Mississippi Vista) on Saturday Morning.

Awards: Awards will be held at the end of each race day in the Vista room, one flight down from the main lobby. Top 3 positions in each class earn medals. “Big Nut Cup” Trophies will be awarded to the fastest female and fastest male for total combined times from all four races (Open Class not eligible for fastest male & female prizes).
