Farside Mountain Bike Park 

Challenge yourself on our lift-serviced downhill mountain biking trails. The Farside Bike Park features six gravity-based downhill mountain biking trails that are unique to the area and a skills development area that includes elements designed to help beginner riders develop skills and experience riders hone their techniques.

Lift access is only for Gravity Bike Park Participants.

BIKE PARK REQUIREMENTS

  • Riders should familiarize themselves with the Mountain Bikers Responsibility Code & Pre-ride, Re-ride, Free-ride.
  • Helmets are required at all times on all downhill mountain bike trails & in the skills development area of the Farside Bike Park. We strongly recommend the use of full-face helmets.
  • Equipment allowed in the Farside Bike Park is limited to mountain bikes. Adaptive bikes and other equipment must be approved in advance by the resort. Trailers, Mountain Boards, child seats, tandem bikes, and unauthorized motor vehicles are not allowed in the Bike Park or on the chairlift.
  • Rim Brakes are not recommended. Bikes may be subject to approval by Chestnut Mountain staff.
  • Only no-throttle, Class 1 E-Bikes will be permitted.
  • Closed toe and heeled, sturdy sneakers are required.
  • First Aid services are only available during chairlift operating hours.
  • While there is no age minimum for the bike park, to ride the chairlift, bike tires need to be a minimum of 20″ and children must be competent riders. It is not recommended that children under the age of 13 ride alone.
  • A waiver is required. Parent or guardian signature required for riders under 18.

Mountain biking involves risk of serious injury or death.  Your knowledge, decisions and actions contribute to your safety and that of others.

  1. STAY IN CONTROL:  You’re responsible for avoiding objects and people
  2. KNOW YOUR LIMITS: Ride within your ability.  Start small and work your way up.
  3. PROTECT YOURSELF:  Use an appropriate bike, helmet and protective equipment.
  4. INSPECT AND MAINTAIN YOUR EQUIPMENT:  Know your components and their operation prior to riding.
  5. BE LIFT SMART.  Know how to load, ride and unload lifts safely.  Ask if you need help.
  6. INSPECT TRAILS AND FEATURES.  Conditions change constantly; plan and adjust your riding accordingly.
  7. OBEY SIGNS AND WARNINGS.  Stay on marked trails only.  Keep off closed trails, and non – designated bike trails (ski trails and glades).  Ride in the direction indicated.
  8. BE VISIBLE.  Do not stop where you obstruct a trail, feature, landing or are not visible.
  9. LOOK AND YIELD TO OTHERS.  Look both ways and yield when entering or crossing a road or trail.  When overtaking, use caution and yield to those ahead.
  10. If involved in or witness to an incident, identify yourself to staff.
