Have you ever explored Galena? Whether it’s a family trip, a golf outing with your buddies, or a girlfriend getaway, this is a destination you don’t want to miss. Known for beautiful views, a rich history, small boutiques, and rolling vineyards, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Galena. So, what are you waiting for? Here are just a few things to do this month once you’re here!

Galena Country Fair

One of Galena’s most popular events is back! The Galena Country Fair will host over 150 vendors selling original handmade arts, crafts and fine arts. On Oct. 6 and 7 from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Grant Park will be filled with shopping, family fun, live entertainment, children’s games, Irish dance performances, a silent auction, and tons of delicious fair food. Admission is $2 per person and remote parking is free!

Twenty Dirty Hands

From Oct. 12-14, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., local Galena and Elizabeth pottery studios are opening just for you. That’s right, this annual self-guided tour will hit all the pottery studios in the area. This event will also feature wheel throwing demonstrations, fresh fired pots and raku firing. Come for free to browse and buy!

Galena’s Ghoulish Gala

Are you ready to kick off Galena’s 40th Halloween Anniversary? Join the Galena Chamber on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. for Galena’s best costume party. The event will take place at historic Turner Hall and is $20 for all guests. There will be a live music performance by Ten Gallon Hat, and food and drinks will be served. This event is 21+.

40th Annual Halloween and Parade Festival

Are you ready for the longest, spookiest, and largest parade in the tri-state area? Make sure to arrive in Galena on Saturday, Oct. 27 by 6:30 p.m. to enjoy the Annual Halloween and Parade Festival. Get ready for a parade filled with spectacular floats, marching bands, costumed participants, prizes and treats for guys and ‘ghouls’ of all ages. Food vendors will line Perry and Washington Street starting at 2 p.m. while hot air balloons will light up the night sky. Admission is free, and we can’t wait to see you there.

Open House & Ski/Snowboard Swap

Chestnut Mountain Resort is having the Midwest’s largest tent & ski/snowboard swap Saturday, October 27 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This two day extravaganza will boast some of the best pre-season deals ever offered on new and used equipment in the Midwest. Equipment check-in begins Saturday, October 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. & Sunday, October 28 from 9 a.m. to Noon.  All equipment must be pick-up at 4:00 p.m. on October 29. Chestnut discount passes will also be for sale at this event.
