Cheer on over 400 athletes as they go for the gold in Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing! For three days athletes from around the state will compete in the Special Olympics Illinois Winter Games.
An opening ceremony and a parade of athletes will take place downtown Galena. The parade will work its way down Main Street and back to the Post Office area where the ceremony will be held. Finally, to top off the ceremony, Law Enforcement Torch Run officers will hand off the torch to athletes who will carry it along its path and light the cauldron holding the Flame of Hope to kick off the Games! A fireworks display will take place at the end of the ceremony.
