22nd Annual Galena Independence Day Celebration
It’s that time of year again! In celebration of Independence Day, the city of Galena is hosting its annual July 4th of July festival. This event takes place from 3-9 p.m. and will kick off on Main Street at 3 p.m. with live music. Following the music, the annual family parade will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature a variety of local businesses, floats, bands, marchers, and fireworks. Immediately following the parade, guests can enjoy live entertainment, food, and beverages at the Green Street Plaza until the fireworks show begins at dusk. Fireworks will launch from Grant Park. There is no fee for admission to this event!
NW IL Art & Jazz Fest
The annual Art & Jazz Fest is back in town Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22. This year, the event features two days of regional fine art, live jazz music, scrumptious local food, craft beer & wine, and the unveiling of a fourth wall mural in downtown Stockton, IL.
Trust me, you don’t want to miss this! On Saturday, the event will kick off at 10 a.m. with live music from Highland Community College’s Big Band, followed by saxophone virtuoso Amanee Avery and Too Deep.
The art show will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. The show will exhibit a wide range of talented regional artists displaying everything from jewelry, to glass and fiber, to lawn sculpture. The Galena Brewing Company, Pecatonica Beer Tap House, Massbach Ridge Winery, and Fergedaboudit Winery are offering samples and bottles of locally-crafted libations. Food samples and meals will be provided by regional chefs.
An Evening with Mr. & Mrs. Lincoln
Mr. Abraham Lincoln requests your attendance as he once again addresses the people of Galena from his place on the historic balcony of the Desoto House Hotel at 5:30 p.m. on July 28. The Lincoln’s invite you in after the address for a night of theatre and dinner. They will be serving Former President Lincoln’s favorite dish, Chicken Fricassee served with warm buttermilk biscuits and apple pie for dessert.
Tickets for this event are $35 per person. Get your tickets early as this event will sell out!
